I think it’s safe to say that through my development of a personal learning network and engagement in edchats all over the world, I have learned and shared more in the last three months than in the last three years! Listening to the views of others, interacting with individuals and watching larger tweeters retweet tricks, tips and advice, I am constantly presented with things to trial and do. The difficulty has been in finding the balance and I think, with the depth of thinking and sharing out there at the moment, that will continue. I guess the big question must be, why? Why is it important to make these connections. I can only answer from a personal perspective and accept that many others simply won’t feel the same way. So for me, it’s about direction. The dark days of winter are beginning to fade away down here in the Southern Hemisphere, but connecting with others world wide gave me the passion and inspiration to get through the toughest of days. Whether a drop in chat with others on the Eastern Seaboard at 5.30am (their time) or a fast paced evening debate within the EdchatNZ community, connecting gave me purpose. It gave me hope. And most of all, after 10 years as an educator, it made me remember why I chose to teach… |
